Amanda Plunkett

Amanda is a provisionally registered Psychologist, currently completing her 5+1 internship with Reflections Psychology. Amanda is passionate about working with children with a focus on developing emotional intelligence, resilience, and a healthy self-concept. These concepts can be beneficial for a wide range of difficulties including anger management, anxiety, depression, and developmental disorders. In her work Amanda makes use of toys, books, games, and craft activities to teach children concepts and strategies while also working with parents to develop effective ways of applying these strategies at home and at school.

Amanda also has a special interest in Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) in both children and adults, with a particular interest in late-diagnosed adult women. Amanda has worked with people across the lifespan formally diagnosed, self-diagnosed, and suspected of having ASD. Amanda has completed training in Sensory Processing, which is so often a part of ASD, and is able to assist parents and children in understanding their child’s sensory needs and developing sensory diets and toolkits to help children stay regulated throughout the day.

Amanda has extensive experience with assessment, particularly with children and adolescents. This includes exploring general strengths and weaknesses, learning disorders, intellectual impairment, ASD, and ADHD.
