Ivannia Mena

Ivannia is a registered Psychologist who is devoted to developing a collaborative therapeutic relationship and providing client-focused treatment to achieve individual goals. She believes in the importance of providing evidence-based therapies and adapting different modalities of therapies to achieve client-focused results.

In working with her clients, Ivannia’s focus is on resolving past and current issues, as well as in developing awareness and resilience to assist clients’ coping and adjustment during time of impasse or transition. She respects uniqueness of every individual, couple or family. Her primary aim is to facilitate insight and assist with the development of skills needed to change recurrent patterns of unhelpful behaviour, thinking and relating that can often result in distress and dissatisfaction. Originally from a Hispanic background, Ivannia welcomes clients from a diverse multicultural and multinational background, and is able to offer her services to Spanish-speaking clients.

Ivannia works effectively with clients to treat a range of issues including depression, anxiety adjustment, grief, anger, trauma, and stress among others. With extensive experience within the correctional system, she is highly proficient in the assessment and treatment of general offending , alcohol and illicit substance misuse, at risk behaviours and suicide prevention, violence, drug induced psychosis and community reintegration. In her clinical practice, Ivannia uses evidence based treatment that includes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Solution focused Brief Therapy.
