Nicole Guse

Nicole is a Psychologist passionate about supporting people towards more positive futures. Nicole has a background of professional experience within correctional environments with both adults and youth. She has specialisations in substance use treatment and offending risk assessments and treatment, including violence and inappropriate sexualised behaviours in youth. Through her experience she has formed substance use group treatment programs, which continue to be facilitated in Youth Detention.

Nicole uses evidence based practices, including CBT, ACT and Motivational Interviewing while forming individualised treatment plan with clients based on their needs. This ensures the therapy is working towards the client’s goals and more positive outcomes. She has assisted clients with a variety of difficulties including depression, anxiety, trauma, anger, relationship problem, parenting, family problems and substance use with the aim of reducing risk and improving outcomes. Nicole has liaised and consulted with agencies for the best client outcomes and management of complex presentations. This has included consulting in relation to case management and court processes for individuals assessed as high risk and/or high needs while in the community and when returning to the community from incarceration. Nicole has also written and provided training to professional from both a variety of government agencies and private providers in relation to mental health, substance use, animal cruelty, fire setting, inappropriate sexualised behaviours in children and youth, and violence.

Qualification:

  1. Masters of Criminology
  2. Bachelor of Arts (Psychology/Criminology)/ Post Grad Dip of Psychology
  3. Circle of Security Parenting Program Qualified Facilitator
