Amanda Plunkett

Amanda is a registered Psychologist experienced in working with people across the lifespan. She is trained in EMDR and is passionate about working with trauma and the aversive events which lead to the experience of anxiety, depression, and other mental illness. She also has a strong interest in Autism Spectrum Disorders and how this can influence day to day life for children, adolescents, and adults.

Amanda has a particular interest in children and young people, focusing on developing practical strategies that they can carry with them throughout their life. She makes use of a range of frameworks and strategies, including CBT and ACT, tailoring them to suit the age, maturity, and personality of the individuals she works with. Amanda also works with parents from an attachment perspective to develop strong, meaningful relationships with their children. She is a Circle of Security – Parenting facilitator.

Amanda has partnered with Russell Island State School, Macleay Island State School, and Bay Island Early Learning & Care to provide a bulk-billed outreach service aimed at children and young people living on the Southern Moreton Bay Islands.

Amanda also has experience with cognitive and educational assessment, particularly with children and adolescents.
