Originally from Malaysia, Mary brings a rich cultural perspective to her work alongside over 25 years of experience. She balances her time between clinical practice, training, supervision, program development, and her passion for painting. She is a compassionate, culturally aware, and transparent clinician dedicated to tailoring therapy to meet the unique needs of each individual.
In her clinical practice, Mary delivers evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR; trained and certified at levels 1, 2, Structural Dissociation, Ego States, Master Class, and Advanced Dissociation training with Dr. Roger Solomon), Structural Dissociation, and Schema Therapy. She works with adult clients facing a wide range of emotional, behavioural, and adjustment challenges such as anxiety, depression, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Complex Trauma (CPTSD), Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), substance abuse, and relationship difficulties.
Mary provides intensive supervision to provisional and registered psychologists, supporting their skill development in evidence-based therapies. She has authored multiple treatment manuals, including CHOICES: Recovery from Substance Abuse Program, which was accredited by Queensland Corrective Services in 2014.
Her approach is deeply compassionate and culturally sensitive, enriched by her Malaysian heritage, and she is passionate about guiding both clients and therapists through transformative psychological healing. Mary has witnessed profound changes in individuals coping with depression, anxiety, PTSD, suicidal ideation, offending behaviours, and substance misuse, helping them to improve their quality of life and achieve personal growth.
Alongside her clinical work, Mary is an accomplished painter working across abstract, portrait, and landscape styles. This creative pursuit enriches her therapeutic perspective by engaging with the deeper layers of human experience and emotion.
Mary has held leadership roles within Queensland Corrective Services, Queensland Health, and the private sector. She has been recognised through several awards and nominations, including for the Australian of the Year awards, for her contributions to mental health and program development.
